Page Boys

Traditionally the page boy carries the train of the bridal gown if the bride has a long train on her dress.

Page boy's or ring bearers as they are sometimes know are a lovely way to involve children in your wedding. They have the job of carrying the rings down the aisle on a ring pillow. They then stand with the groom and the best man and wait for the flower girl, bridesmaid's and bride to walk down the aisle. Sometimes if children are nervous the flower girl and the page boy can walk down the aisle together hand in hand.

If you have some concerns about the rings being tied on the ring pillow, you could always tie artificial rings on the pillow and have the real rings in the suit pocket of the best man. It is amazing how many little boys love getting dressed up in a suit especially when they see the big boys doing the same.

Include the page boy in rehearsals so that they know what to do and where to stand on the wedding day. If they feel like they are part of everything they are less likely to misbehave on the day.

Have something for the page boy to amuse himself at the bridal table if he is going to be attending the reception. Maybe a colouring book and pencils or a very small toy car. Also remember to have child friendly sweets in his bomboniere.
